The Purpose of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL)

Anti-Defamation league was formed by the Independent Order of B’nai B’rith which is an organization that serves the Jewish people. The formation happened in 1913 in the United States of America (ADL, n.d). The purpose of ADL is to protect against all forms of anti-Semitism as well as bigotry in both the U.S. as well as in other countries in the world. The league was initially targeting to advocate for the rights of Jews, stopping any forms of defamations, securing fair treatment and justice at its inception back in 1913. However, the agency has transformed over time to become America’s leading rights body, defending democratic ideals for all and protecting civil rights as a whole in addition to its anti-Semitism campaign. ADL also operates outside America through its satellite offices.
