Social Media Impact on Behavior and Cultural Adaptation

Social media has fundamentally changed the way that we consume and share information, and as a result, it has had a far-reaching impact on behavior and cultural adaptation. The average person spends over two hours per day using social media platforms, which is more than they spend watching television or movies. This ubiquity of social media means that its effects are felt across all sectors of society. One study found that students who used social media frequently were more likely to report feeling lonely and sad than those who did not use social media. Additionally, this trend was also seen in adults.
