About Music & Performing Arts

Music & Performing Arts is a term that encompasses various forms of art that are performed live in front of an audience. It includes dance, music, opera, theatre and musical theatre, magic, illusion, mime, spoken word, puppetry, circus arts, stand up comedy, improv, professional wrestling and performance art. Music is perhaps the most universal of the performing arts and is found in every society.

Some of the courses in Music & Performing Arts include Bachelor of Performing Arts (BPA) and Master of Performing Arts (MPA). Students may need help in areas such as music theory, music history, dance techniques, choreography, dramatic literature, set design and production. 

According to a ranking by ownyourownfuture.com, some of the best-performing arts schools in the United States include Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, The Juilliard School, The School of American Ballet, Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and the Performing Arts, Baltimore School for the Arts, Interlochen Center for the Arts and Idyllwild Arts Academy.
