The Virgin Group's Strategy: Generic business strategies.

With a portfolio of over 100 companies in different industries and sectors in North America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia, the Virgin Group is one of the world’s largest venture capital companies. It was established in the 1970s but was incorporated in 1989. Its founders are Richard Branson and Nick Powell. It has over 50,000 employees across 30 countries in various business sectors. For the company to succeed globally in these different business sectors over the year, it has correctly employed corporate and generic business strategies. Virgin’s success and fame can be accredited to the group's CEO, Richard Branson, a well-known personality known for his daring tactics. This paper will, in two parts, discuss the role that strategic management has played in facilitating the success of Virgin Group. It seeks to examine the underlying reasons behind Virgin’s success.
