Examining Differences in Astrological Beliefs

Astrological belief is well established in almost all parts of the world. While this is true, there exist differences in beliefs depending on cultural backgrounds. Confirming the presence of differences in astrological beliefs, especially between Chinese and western cultures, is the point of focus in this study. In specific, existence of beliefs between Chinese and Australian nationals is examined. The presence of differences in beliefs as a result of gender difference is also examined. Independent t-tests, ANOVA and Pearson correlation analyses confirm that Chinese nationals differ in their astrological beliefs compared to Australians, with Chinese having stronger beliefs. Females also show higher preference for astrological solutions than males, probably as a way of self –verification in handling life stress, which is slightly higher among females.
